Typhoon 8 and Typhoon 16 Retrofit Notice

Ricoh Printing Systems, Inc., recently learned from Xerox International
Partners (XIP) about a defect in one of its printing modules that
was designed and manufactured by Fuji Xerox Co. Ltd, and sold by
Ricoh Printing Systems America, Inc. (formerly Dataproducts).
These printers were sold between 1994 and 1998 as the Dataproducts
Typhoon 8 and the Dataproducts
Typhoon 16 desktop printers.
Ricoh Printing Systems America, Inc., would like to notify
resellers and customers that there is a remote possibility of overheating
in these models. In two instances in Japan the overheating resulted
in the unit catching on fire. Ricoh Printing Systems America
will replace specific parts
in these laser printers free of charge upon customer request. If
you have one of these models please follow the following steps:
We highly recommend that for your safety, you should immediately
take the following measures to reduce any chance of overheating:
- Power off the machines when they are not in use.
- Ensure that the “power save” mode is enabled until
you receive replacement parts. (Fuser timeout setting should not
be "infinity").
- Fill out the information
form to replace specific parts free of charge .
